  • Older travelers

light and spacious room, very nicely furnished

Disappointed in the lack of toiletries. Hand wash and shower gel were only items supplied. No tumblers for teeth cleaning, had to go down to the bar and ask for a couple.

  • Older travelers

Convenient to School Good taxi service 121

Pub a wee bit noisy at times

  • Older travelers

We stayed at this hotel as we were flying from Birmingham airport the following day. The hotel room was clean and comfortable and had everything that we wanted. There was a busy restaurant attached which we didn't use but looked very pleasant and the outside area was very inviting with plenty of tables and some heated and nice planting. We had an enjoyable stay even for just the one night as we went for a walk into the town which took minutes and had a drink in a friendly bar and an Indian meal. We will use this hotel again.

  • Single

Comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Decent real ale.

Average food. I had a steak & ale pie with mash potatoe and veg. If there was any ale based gravy in the pie it had all but evaporated by the time I got it. The mash was inedible and the vegetables were steamed / boiled to death.

Hotel is well located in the smart village of Knowle near Solihull. Easy to find and Parking is freely available. Our room was very clean, well appointed, well furnished, spacious and with an exceptionally comfortable bed plus TV etc. We used the Bar and Restaurant fairly late in the evening and enjoyed a good meal. There is also an attractive outside eating/drinking area. Staff were very friendly and helpful. As the Hotel is situated at one end of Knowle High Street there is also an abundance of Pubs, Restaurants and Shops within easy walking distance.

Only a few minor points worth mentioning. The one and only problem with our room was a water tank situated above our room which was relatively noisy in the morning at peak shower/bath times. Some noise from the nearby road and the outside restaurant but not a big problem. We stayed mid week in August at a discounted room rate. We would not have been happy to pay the normal tariff as for us it was an overnight stop and we just needed "clean and comfortable"

  • Older travelers

We had a comfortable, kingsize bed in a clean room. We expected it to be quite noisy as the bar downstairs was extremely busy, but we actually hardly heard any noise.

Having soap dispensers on the bathroom wall rather than little bottles is perfectly acceptable as long as they are regularly filled. When we arrived, both of ours were empty, and after we reported this at reception the one over the bath was filled but not the one by the sink - only a little thing but irritating.

  • Older travelers

pleasant friendly front of house staff, comfortable atmosphere, pleasant decor and easy parking.

bar prices and staff who gave incorrect change to me and others at my table, also different prices for the same drink at different rounds.

  • Older travelers

The hotel was within easy reach of the NEC (approx 10 min drive) and was excellent value for money. Our room was spacious and clean and the reception and restaurant staff were freindly and efficient. We would definitely return when in the area.

  • Single

Us usual, very professional attentive staff, good food, charming hotel surroundings, efficiently run and a comfortable room.

  • Couple

Clean and space room.Good for family stay

Noise coming from outside street. They should fit double-glaze for windows.

  • Older travelers

Staff very friendly Food excellent. Beautiful old hotel with lots of character

Only negative comment there are a lot of stairs to clmb to get to the suite

  • Single

My room was spacious, the bed comfortable and everywhere was clean. My room was down the side of the hotel, so I was not disturbed by traffic noise. The restaurant served a good choice of food and the staff were friendly and efficient although neither I nor my friends were offered the 2 courses for £9.99 menu that was advertised outside. We had to ask to see that menu and I think it should have been given to us with the other menus.

  • Single

As usual, a relaxing stay in an efficiently run hotel, with good food and atmosphere. Price is also very good and not prohibitive for such a location.

  • Older travelers

Location and price Breakfast was freshly cooked and tasty

The rooms and general decor werte tired - needws a refurbishment The room had only one liquid soap dispenser by the basin. The one by the bath was empty. There were no other toiletries or tissues which one would expect.
